When you're growing up and out on the ball field with either your friends or your father, you make up scenarios and imagine yourself in a big league stadium in the 9th inning. Whether you're imagining yourself making that diving stop and throwing out the runner at first or hitting that big homerun to win the game, you say aloud that you're "Barry Bonds" when hitting (perhaps one of the best hitters to ever play the game) or that you're "Omar Vizquel" (one of the best fielders of all time).

When watching Omar play short, he played it with such smoothness and effortless perfection that everybody would stop what they were doing to see the replay of an acrobatic play he just made and be talking about it at school the next day or by the water cooler at work. In an era where so much emphasis was put on homeruns, Omar set the standard for the defensive side of the game. Any time you tuned in to one of his games, you knew you would see at least one Web-Gem - it almost became routine to expect that.

Along with his big time play came an even bigger smile. You could tell how much he really enjoyed playing the game of baseball and that's something to note about making it through 23 years of playing at the highest level in the world. It's with that reason in mind that a friend of ours (VM ROSE) linked Bubucheek and Omar Vizquel - knowing the characteristics of confidence and positivity that have driven both of us to try and become the best at what we are doing in our particular fields while maintaining the fun side of it all.

BUBUCHEEK CLOTHING, LLC DONATES TO PINK RIBBON FUND

La Plata, MD – Richard Giannotti, Co-Founder of Bubucheek clothing, LLC presented Civista Health Foundation with a check for $500 for the Pink Ribbon Fund. The Pink Ribbon fund was set up to support breast cancer education and awareness in Charles County. The money was raised at Civista Health’s Paint the Park Pink event at Regency Furniture Stadium in July 2011. During the event Bubucheek clothing sold breast cancer awareness t-shirts with a portion of the proceeds going to the Civista Health Foundation’s Pink Ribbon Fund. The money will be used for grassroots activities to further spread the word about the benefits of early detection.

We partnered with Civista Health, the Charles County Hospital, in an event to raise awareness for Breast Cancer at a local minor league game hosted by the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs of the Atlantic League. By combining our BUBU 4 BOOBIES campaign with there PINK RIBBON FUND, we were able to raise money as well as awareness and are proud to announce that we will be donating $500 to their Fund.

When Bubucheek first started printing Tees, we were clueless as to what went into the process. We found a local print shop in Nashua, NH known as the Tee Shirt Bodega to help get us off the ground. The manager Tyler Gauthier was extremely helpful and schooled us on the process and the behind the scenes preparation to screen printing. Much appreciation goes out to Tyler and his hard work that he put into bringing Bubucheek to life.

After about a year of screen printing with Tee Shirt Bodega, Tyler was on the move and relocating. He didn't leave us hanging and actually hooked us up with another company known as the Boston Brawlers. Nathan, Jared and Corey from the Brawlers have been a tremendous addition and have continued to keep Bubucheek alive. Constant feedback, communication and design samples from the Brawlers are the most important pieces to printing the best design possible. With a local printer, it's nice to drop in and chat and bounce ideas off the guys, discussing color codes and color schemes, style inks, and materials. We are proud to have them print for us and we'll continue to pump out some fresh threads!

Since the birth of Bubucheek, we have wanted to attach ourselves to a good cause and raise awareness. There's no better foundation to be associated with than the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, especially when it's one that touches close to home as many women in our own families have been diagnosed. We encourage you to click the link above because knowledge is power and with it being so commonly found in women, the sooner it is found the better the chances are of beating it.

I want to personally thank Eva Warden (mother of a teammate of mine) for sharing her story and allowing us @bubucheek to present it to all our followers/fans. It's so encouraging to hear stories of how people deal with their battle and how mentally strong they've become in light of their fight.

" In February 2000, I was diagnosed with aggressive breast cancer. I was facing nine months of treatment--chemo and radiation. Sometime after the diagnosis, I vowed this would only be an interruption. I was 51, looking forward to being a grandmother, and still had things to do. The treatments were harsh, the wig was hot, but with the support of my husband, children, sisters, friends and the best oncologist around, I spent those months "living" with cancer. I have no doubt that their prayers and those of many others made the difference. I am thankful chemo and radiation were effective, but am eternally grateful for the power of prayer. I am here and healthy through the grace of God. Evidently He still has plans for me. Eleven years later, I am still standing and still have things to do."

Travis Garcia, Laz Piniero, Richard Giannotti (me) visit the MDVA during our pre season workouts heading into the 2011 Atlantic League Season.

The Maryland Department of Veterans Affairs was created by the state legislature in 1999 as an executive agency with the mission of assisting veterans, active duty service members, their families, and their dependents in securing benefits earned through military service. The Department’s origin follows the history of the Maryland Veterans Commission back to 1924, when the Soldiers' Relief Fund Commission was formed to administer a State relief fund for disabled veterans of World War I.

Sometimes it's tough to see first hand the toll a life in the military takes on a person and sometimes we even avoid acknowledging the existence of the places where these heroes come to get much needed assisted living. But when you take the time to sit back and listen, there is much to learn and appreciate for the jobs these men and women did for our country.

The four story facility in Charlotte Hall, MD is divided into different levels as each one depicts the level of security and care depending on the severity of the residents. I was fortunate to meet a few characters that had me laughing the entire time I was with them. Though he may never get the chance to read this, Bernie, had me in stitches talking about life growing up in Baltimore, the things he did to get under his drill sergeants skin and the number of others times he got in trouble while being at the Veterans Home.

I highly recommend for everybody to check out one of these facilities, they're located all around the United States. Not only was it eye-opening and educating, it was great for these residents to reconnect with the youth that will soon drive this country as they once did.

On this day, April 29, 2011, many will remember for the famous Royal Wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton. Others will remember it for birthdays or various celebrations they may be having wherever they live. Pictured below is our friend Joe. He is super fan and supporter of the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs of the Atlantic League and he's looking forward to opening night tonight. You can see Joe all around the stadium snapping candid photos throughout the game. But there is more about "Big Joe" you should know...he is a survivor. From what he described as increasingly sharp pains coming from his chest, "Big Joe" entered the hospital to find out he needed work done ASAP. The next day he received a stent into his heart and the pain was relieved instantly. Now fit with a fully functioning heart and a steady diet, he's lost over 60 lbs. <------Congratulations!

It also seems fitting that he would be rockin' the Bubucheek "P.U.M.P." shirt.

Big Joe of Southern Maryland

The Show Me State

For as long as I can remember, the midwest has always been known for its hospitality and loyal sports fans. Whether it's tailgating hours before a game or cheering on the home team so loud it's hard to hear yourself think, St. Louis fans showed me that they're one of the best in baseball! (this coming from a Yankees fan).

This was a unique visit for two reasons. First, it was great taking a trip with a best friend to see another best friend play ball in the big leagues. Secondly, it was fun to promote bubucheek around the midwest by handing out promotional cards and talking to the "show me state" residents in hopes of attracting newcomers to the website and blog.

One thing I will never forget from this trip is that 30,000 people attended Wednesdays 12:45 pm game. Whether it was kids getting a day off of school or people taking a half day of work, STL fans were there in full effect to support their team. It was pretty awesome to see.

Since our other business partner Rich lives in Miami, FL (I hate you), I met Russ at his spot in Cambridge, MA on Wednesday morning to finalize our Spring/Summer run. Locked in the designs and color schemes for each style of shirt. The most time consuming piece to this process is getting the designs completed and implementing a color scheme that works for each particular design on each specific style of shirt.

We always flip through each of his unique sketch books (he's acquired many throughout the years and have some killer names for each). All of his illustrations, doodles, comic strips and typography work are in these books in some shape or form... Really impressive stuff.

Define These Words is an up and coming band from Belgium. Their creativity sparks an excitement that we noticed from the very first talks we had with them. They provide profound lyrics and thoughts about topics from political issues to inspiring interviews which promoted the term to "Define These Words". They Rock Bubucheek!

The Bandmembers:

Vincent Van Hoorick, the vocalist of the band. Vincent is a video artist. He was one of the youngest video editors ever in Belgium.

Brecht Everaert, lead guitar and second vocals. Is the serious one of the band, even tough he can't really be serious and came up with the bandname on the toilet.

Quinten Van Epperzeel, rythmic guitar. Comes up with jokes that aren't funny, can laugh without even making noise and sings awful when he's showering (the band confirms this).

Nicolas Bastien, bass-player. Makes awful sounds when he's laughing and is a super-active child, yet an adult. Likes to be bossed around and can't stop buying vans.

Sam Enthoven, drums. Is the youngest band-member from the band, laughs with any joke, funny or not and even when it's not a joke at all.

We are really excited to join the likes of LACOSTE, SKY CLOTHING, PLAIN JANE and TRUE RELIGION (just to name a few) which can all be found inside the store. Up to this point, we've done numerous shows and parties, but this marks the first appearance in any boutique or store. A special thanks to Stacy, Shop603 Manager, for setting us up and helping us build our brand and spread the concept of Bubucheek.

KING OF SPRING

WELCOME BACK – It's that time of year again down south and it's official, Spring Break is back in Ft. Lauderdale. Two decades ago spring breakers flocked from every corner of the country to the madness that pursues in what Ft. Lauderdale became referred to as "King of Spring". From the 90's and early 2000's, people began traveling more on cruises and visiting exotic islands like Jamaica and Dominican Republic or other legendary Spring Break spots like Cancun, Cozumel and Panama City. Today, the shift has returned back to the beach in Ft. Lauderdale. With music blasting from venues like Elbo Room, Dirty Blondes or Exit 66....spring breakers described the scene as a "nightclub on sand".

Our girl Nikki shows us some love while at work downtown Riverfront.

The Fort Lauderdale Water Taxi is not only practical for getting to some of the more frequented locations in town (like the Galleria Mall, Las Olas Blvd, and Las Olas Riverfront) but also offers a unique perspective on the city itself since you're traveling via the canals.

You can catch our boy Jake (above) dancing up a storm in the Dallas area, the guy is epic and a lot of fun. Also been spotted selling Health Insurance to older people at Golden Corral...baaaaahahahahahaha (insert Dr. Evil laugh here).

Busy Week for Bubucheek

This week has been extremely busy for Bubucheek. Besides getting the finalized details for our next run of shirts & hoodies, we have been finalizing the list of Bubucheek Reps. We narrowed it down to 15 Representatives to help spread the word about Bubucheek Clothing. We have people in NH, MA, TN, NC and RI helping us out!!! Russ, our creative designer, will be in London during Fashion Week! I know he's gonna have some brilliant ideas and stories to tell when he gets back. We have also been busy working on the promo video and getting it prepped and ready to go for Saturday, October 2nd. Not to mention the Planning of the Bubu-Bash Roofdeck Party has been keeping us more than occupied...

Solo Exhibit: Drawn & Sewn

An exhibit of our Creative Designer Russ Gossett's work will be on display in Watertown, MA at the Arsenal Center for the Arts with the opening reception Thursday, September 16th, 2010 from 5:30pm-7:30pm.

As an artist / designer my work weaves illustration, fashion design and graphic design into my art. The pieces included showcase my personal range composed primarily of graphic and editorial work over the past three years, including magazine commissions and the latest designs from my apparel company, Bubucheek.

All are welcome!

Thanks again to Danielle, Andy, Tyler and Jimmy for taking time and staying late to help us get this Promo Video rolling. I'm really stoked about how the meeting went. Everyone had some awesome ideas as to how to attack this video. We discussed locations, casting and music for the vid. We also talked briefly about some cool webisode ideas that I'm really excited about. The Promo Video will take place Saturday, October 2nd. Can't wait!!!! Thanks again guys! Good looks

Russ, Bubucheek's creative designer and myself have a meeting tonight on Berkley Street in Boston, MA at 6pm. We are meeting with a great friend of mine Danielle, who works for Engine Room Edit, a video editing company. She rallied up her editors, graphic designers, and a writer to help us get this Promo Vid rolling. Tonight will be a great brainstorm session to figure out the direction we want this video to go. Can't wait to have a big round table discussion tonight! I'll let ya know what we come up with

Introducing some fresh Bubucheek. Hangin out in Lowell, MA with the Lowell Spinners Baseball Team ( Minor League Affiliate of the Boston Red Sox ). Two former Major League Baseball Players George Lombard and Tom Goodwin are catching a glimpse of the new Mens Bubucheek Designs.

Pretty cool to hang out with some former Big Leaguers. These guys were loving Bubucheek and I was in the area so I stopped by the stadium in Lowell, MA and hit them up with some gear! Wear it well guys!
